Bracket

There are a lot of trailers in Forestville, CA where Bracket grew up. But one single wide in the middle of a Sebastopol apple orchard became the birthplace of Brackets new 17 song opus Requiem. Theres quite a history that leads up to that, and well keep it as brief as possible: Since 1992, Bracket has been churning out consistently unconventional power pop punk rock, releasing two albums on Caroline Records and four on Fat Wreck Chords. They toured the U.S. extensively, as well as Canada, much of Europe, and Japan. Following the release of 2000s When All Else Fails, Bracket took a nearly two year hiatus to build a recording studio inside an abandoned trailer. Amid the seemingly endless days and nights spent perfecting the studio named Trailer Park Studios, after an early Bracket song the band released a live album 2002s Live in a Dive and began working on new material. Requiem, in many ways, is the culmination everything that has come before it. Engineered, produced, and mixed by the band themselves, the album reflects Brackets newfound sense of freedom and control. The trademark loud guitars, catchyyetquirky melodies, and bittersweet lyrics are in place in fact, all 17 songs have been devoted to exploring mysteriously recurring character Warren. But while retaining much that has come to be expected from Bracket, the bands new material explores some new musical terrain as well, incorporating elements of 60s pop and classical music. One song employs a selfarranged string section as its primary instrumentation. Another sees Bracket rocking just a little harder than ever before. And throughout Requiem, Bracket have stepped up the vocal harmonies to near BeachBoys proportions. In other words, they have made the record they have always wanted to make. There is a sense of excitement and anticipation as Bracket joins the Takeover family, with their particularly atypical brand of music being brought to new and old fans alike. These songs are on Requiem, which will be out February 7th next year...
