Velvet Revolver @ PNC Arts Center- Holmdel, NJ 5/20/05

Hoobastank opened up and as many people know they STANK. This band has pure talent but wastes it playing Fuckin glam rock ,enough said!!!

Velvet Revolver takes the stage @ 9:30 pm Scott Weiland is dressed in a airline pilots outfit as they hit the stage. Right away he breaks out his megaphone and starts screaming into the mic. Their new material is so-so at best but everyone was digging their sound. Slash, Duff and the rest of the boys from Guns looked and sounded great. At times Scott's voice was a little off but many people didn't even notice. Their set included all their new material which isn't much, so they threw in 2 Stone Temple Pilots songs and one Guns & Roses classic{It so easy), which the crowd enjoyed very much. Five songs into the set Scott was running around with no shirt and it was 52 degrees and fucking freezing. He then sports a CBGB's shirt which just so happens to be closing in a couple of months. I believe it was some kind of silent statement in the music community.Velvet Revolver's sound was all in all pretty good. During the second Stone Temple Pilot song {Here I Come} Scott gets hit with something in the chest while on stage. He immediately goes off the stage and starts making his may into the crowd. He tells the security to back off and it is all about trust, then goes on the shoulders of some fans and publicly humiliates the asshole who threw something at him. At this time the song was on pause and then all of a sudden he signing again in the crowd. They go off stage after a few more songs and come back out for an encore playing {Wish You Were Here} which they fucking nailed. From a 1 to 10 I give this show a 7. Scott and all the Guns & Roses boys looked and sounded great. Slash was Slash a classic performance as always. They also all looked clean not all wired out. But they need more of there own songs to play these major venues.
