First of all I'd like to THANK my buddy Jamie for hooking me up with front row tickets again . We have seen more front row concerts now than I can count. THANKS buddy your the best. We arrive at the Meadowland around 5:30 and breeze right in surprisingly because the Meadowlands fair is a Giant stadium until July 5th. Anyhow the parking lot is half empty, we park and start to tail gate. For a Van Halen concert this crowd was very mellow and respectful , no people getting drunk and fighting. The parking lot crowd seemed to be older people just chilling out . We skip Silvertide, the opening act and go in about 8:20 Van Halen take the stage at 8:30 opening with Jump. Security up front is very anal as usual and the floor supervisor gives us a hard time telling me "I run the show here and I'll tell you were to sit." I drunkenly tell him listen buddy I'll sit were my ticket tells me to. We go back and forth until he decides to leave. What an asshole , Floor supervisor? you tell me... that's why your on bath room duty 20 mins later a perfect place for this asshole. Any how Van Halen takes the stage and kicks so serious ass. Sammy Hagar is running all over the stage and sounds unbelievable. Mark Anthony seems on top of the world having a blast up there. Him and Sammy are good friends and you can seem that in there eyes as they jam away. They share a couple shots as the night goes on. Alex is back there beating the hell out of his drum set. Eddie who is getting over throat cancer they say looks very thin and fragile at first. But he is not one of the best guitarist in the world for nothing he has that Fuckin guitar smoking and never sounded better. Van Halen set list was excellent they did vintage Van Halen stuff {David's stuff} and it sounded great . Mark Anthony sang allot bumping Sammy away from the mike and taken over, Sammy had a smile on his face from ear to ear and welcomed Mark taking over on vocals. They played all there best Van Hagar stuff. { Best of both Worlds} {Standing on top Of the World} { Right now } They also did some old classics like {Unchained} and closed with {Panama} One of the night many height lights was Wolfe Van Halen taking the stage during Eddie's solo Eddie stops playing in the middle of his solo but the guitar still kept wailing out walks Wolfe playing his fathers parts not missing a note They play back and forth and it was incredible. From a 1 to 10 this show gets a 9. Eddie Van Halen still looks very sick to me but he puts on one hell of a show and at one point says here the future of Van Halen and points at his son playing. Eddie played that guitar with passion and more power than I have ever seen him do before. He is given the people what they paid for and then some. Like the song says Standing on top of the world for a little while. Eddies defiantly there on this tour.
