The Doors of the 21st Century @ Roseland Ballroom - NYC, NY 5/5/04

I arrive in N.Y. early and go to the Roseland to meet my lawyer. We decide to go for a couple of drinks and find 2 excellent Irish bars a few blocks away. After pounding a shit load of beers we were off too the show. We get back to the Roseland @ 8:pm and there is no line to get in. I am like what the fuck is going on here. Last year I saw the Doors @ the Roseland and the line was around the block @ this time. We get inside the place and it is empty... not even half way full. I couldn't figure out why. Again this show was sold out last year. Alot of people were about to miss a great show. We make are way to the bar and I meet a couple people I partied with last year. We bullshited a little and started partying again were we left off last year.

One thing about the Roseland there are always good people there. I don't know why, but the people who frequent the Roseland are some of NY's finest and these fuckers know how to have a good time. Enough of that bull shit . The Doors come on @ 8:45 pm they were suppose to start @ 8:pm but just like last year they went on late. They Open with "Break on Through" then they go right into "Touch me." The place is still half empty and I make my way right to the front of the stage. The sound is great like it always is @ the Roseland. Ian Asbury is not acting like Jim Morrison like he did last year. He has really taken over the Doors and Jim would be proud of the job he's doing. Ian put on a hell of a show period. They break into "Love her Madly" then "Not to touch the earth" I slug down a couple of more beers. At this point I am wasted nothing like drinking 20 beers and a little hydro and some old Doors music . Robbie Krieger looked terrible but he still Fuckin jammed like he was 30 again. Ray looked good and the key boards sounded perfect. This is the 3rd time I have seen the Doors within a year.I don't know why but it must be like a Jim Morrison thing that I get so shit faced at their shows.Every time just a little more than the last. Thank god for public transportation. They do the "Alabama Song" then a mime comes out on stage with white makeup on and starts acting like a nut. Ray then announces that the next songs are going out to George Bush. They go into "5 to 1 then right into "The unknown Soldier" Then into" Love me 2 times" Ian is standing proud and belts them out perfect . I pound a couple more beers and the night gets a little fuzzy after this. Some other song were "Blood on the Streets" "Lets swim to the Moon" "When your strange" Road house Blues" LA Woman" Light My Fire" "The End" etc...

I stop writing my review at this point and got completely wreaked. The show ended a little before 11pm. From a 1 to 10 this show was a perfect 10 . Ian has transformed this band into something great. He is no Jim Morrison and I think he found that out the hard way. But what a FUCKIN SHOW!!!!!
