Nuse @
Block Island Music Festival - Rhode Island, 6/11/03 |
We start off our journey at 5:00 am June 11th. 'We being myself and the Hardcore band Nuse'. We fly down I-95 and are in Rhode Island in know time. We hang out and wait to take the ferry to Block Island. We are on the ferry for 45 min.in the middle of the sea. We arrive in Block Island the place is a big tourist attraction to me it looked like an real old town, most places on the Island are run down. But we feel right at home. The people of Rhode Island are real polite nothing like the people of N.J. We arrive at Captain Nicks Bar home of the Block Island Music Festival. We meet the promoter and a shit load of other bands. This Festival has been a folk music, classic rock festival that is until Nuse arrives. The word is out about Nuse being in town.We go to check in to our free hotel rooms, the festival hooks up the bands with free rooms. The rooms are tiny with no private bathrooms, only one bathroom per floor for every body to share. We all laugh and all agree if this place was around here it would be called a crack shack. I don't hesitate about getting us out of there. I booked the show and we don't live like that . A nice lady from the Ballard Inn hooked us up with some great rooms and for only $50.00 a piece. We settle in and begin to start partying. We pop over to the festival and start to watch the bands first up was Gideon Fredmann he played the cello he had that thing miked up and the noise coming out of it was incredible. He played folk music with a twist, good job for an old Hippie.Next up was Two Guys Live they played some kind of techno crap enough said. Next up Karwreck they are from N.Y.City and play some kind of classic rock . I was looking forward in seeing them , they were ok nothing special like I thought. Next was Maggie Kim see has a rock band and they also were nothing to write home about. The place was starting to fill up Block Island was waiting for Nuse. The word was out and the people of Rhode Island wanted to see some heavy music no hard core bands ever played the festival or Block Island before. Nuse takes the stage at 12:00 by 12:05 the place is going wild. Nuse has an hour set the bar closes at 1:00 the people loved ever minute of it Nuse was powerful and brung the house down!!!!! It is know 1:00 and the people want more knowbody is leaving and the people demand more. Nuse does an encore than another I keep pushing them, than another. Mike has shut his amp down 3 times already and is shaking his head. The people wanted Nuse and they got what they asked for. We get out of there and thats the story. I'd like to thank Nuse, the boys are my brothers and being their manager isn't a job it a Fuckin Pleasure.
