| Well since I missed most of their set with Metallica a few months back I owed my wife this one. She is a huge Godsmack fan and so am I. We arrive at the casino check in to my complementary room and things are going well . We go for a free diner on the casino and I search for a black jack table. The casino is mobbed and all the tables are full. I find a seat at a table and it turns out to be a lucky one I win $500.00 in about an hours time. Is this my lucky night free room, free diner and I am up big already? As always it did not turn out that way in the end... I was up $4000 playing roulette and I went FUCKING NUTS! I started betting thousands and lost it all. This is my life story win big and give it right back. Well here is my good news what a FUCKING show GodSmack put on. The Music Box is a small movie type theater. This place is sweet crushed velour seats and the place holds only around 700 people .GodSmack is suppose to come on at 8:00pm and around 8:30 some crazy Egyptian music starts blaring from the PA . GodSmack takes the stage and they go right into "I'm Alive" and the place erupts... we are off to a real special performance. This part of their tour is acoustic and it is a little different then what I am used to seeing. I have seen GodSmack a bunch of times before but right away everyone knows there something special about tonight performance. The place gets pitch dark so I did not write a set list down. The stage was set up with Christmas style lighting and it looked awesome. Sully's voice was crystal clear. The rest of the bands sound was also dialed in perfect. I see two gorgeous groupies making their way to the front row they are stopped by security asked for there tickets and then escorted out of the venue. This is the first time I have ever seen this before... usually these type of girls are brought right up front with or with out a ticket. Girls you missed a hell of a show. GodSmack does all there classics. Some of the highlights were "I Stand Alone," "Voodoo" and a special explanation on how the song "Serenity" was written. (after Neil Pert from RUSH lost someone special in his family and went on a 25,000 mile cross country motorcycle trip) They then played "Serenity" and it was breath taking. Sully and the band also took random questions through their set and that alone was pretty special. Also, Sully played the bongo drums for a big part of their set .GodSmack's former guitarist also sat in for the whole set. The former gutiarist had to leave the band before they made it big because his girl got pregnant. This guy did the right thing so Godsmack had him and the singer of his new band Dropbox up for a special jam. Godsmack did a 90 min set. From 1 to 10 this show gets a 9. It was one of the best shows that I have ever seen but it is now Tuesday and I am still feeling the hang over from this one. A special apology goes out to Jen and some of the Borgata staff (Casino Pit bosses) they had to deal with a fucking drunk maniac, myself. You know what they say once a loser always a loser.
