CD Review - Downstage - Demo, 8/17/03

This is a CD review from another one of New Jersey's incredible un-signed acts, Downstage. I popped their CD in and was quite surprised. In their press kit they describe themselves as a hard rock band. But after a listen, I think they're more of an alternative rock band than a hard rock band. These guys sound real tight and the demo recording quality is very good. Some of their influences include The Goo Goo Dolls, 3 Doors Down, and Bush.

Their style is similar to all these bands. It sounds like these guys really got their shit together-- The young crowd will eat this shit up!!!! These guys are defiantly worth taking the time to listen too. Being from NJ and around the music business like I am, I was surprised that I had never heard of this band before. I look forward to seeing them live sometime in the very near future.

From 1 to 10 I give this CD an 8.

The only fault I found with this band was a letter I received in their press kit containing a statement from a record label exec. This record label executive recently told their manager that "Downstage is the best un-signed act on the east coast and possibly the entire country." If this guy thought this why aren't they signed with him? Their manager said this CD would back up this bold statement and it didn't. This band may be ONE of the best on the East Cost but stating they are the best on the east coast or the entire country is a mistake.

Downstage will make a truckload of money in the near future and there is no reason this band shouldn't be signed with a major label already. This band is good and their style is what the major labels are looking for. Keep playing boys your time is coming real soon!
