The year is 1994. A modest band from Jacksonville called INSPECTION 12 is beginning its journey; a journey that would take them through highs and lows, tragedy and recovery. Dan McLintock, 14, barely into his early teens and Scott Shad, 12, not yet able to call himself a teen, meet, begin playing together, and form a loose version of what was to become INSPECTION 12. Over the next few years the band would grow with the addition of two guitarist, high school friend Pete Mosely and cousin, James Trimble. The now complete band would spend their teen years playing every venue that would give them a chance, whether it was a high school courtyard or your average holeinthewall bar in downtown Jacksonville. Although starting with humble beginnings, INSPECTION 12's dedication and unyielding hard work afforded them local recognition and eventually solidified their status as a household name in Jacksonville. From 1995 to 2000 the band released four fulllength albums and two EP's on their own, further reinforcing them as a premiere, headlining act in North Florida. Their success did not go unnoticed and in 2000 the band was signed to a national label, Honest Don's. 2001 was supposed to be the crowing year of INSPECTION 12 as they finished their first large scale record titled, In Recovery, which was released by Honest Don's Barely Legal Recordings on May 29th, 2001. Shortly before the release of their first fulllength label rerecording, the band was wrought with tragic news drummer and INSPECTION 12 cofounder, Scott Shad, had been killed in a car accident. The title In Recovery now became prophetic, and the band, after some time spent soul searching, decided to continue on. Finding a talented drummer was important. However, the band also knew that the new drummer would need to be a close friend with them as well as the late Shad. Enter lifelong friend and established drummer, Tim Grisnik. In January of 2002, the band would begin their first nationwide tour which took them to places far from home. After the tour of the United States, the band would undergo yet another line up change as guitarist James Trimble decided to part ways with the band. For their newest release the band returned home, back to their beginnings in Jacksonville to record. 'Get Rad,' released on September 2, 2003, is Inspection 12's fifth full length release. The first album with their new revamped lineup contains 17 songs which draw on influences ranging from punk to country, hard rock to classical, and displays an incredible sense of maturity and further validates that INSPECTION 12 is far too talented to allow themselves to be pigeon holed. With the early fan embrace and sales tally of "Get Rad," it is safe to say that Inspection 12 is no longer in recovery, rather poised for success with a new outlook on life and first rate music to carry their message.
